Peking to Paris 2010
Planning has started for the next Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, starting in Peking on September 11th, 2010. Interested participants should email or apply in writing to the Rally Office for an information pack. Email: admin@endurorally.com The new route drives into Mongolia, and then south into Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. This is the historic Silk Route, and there are day’s off in such fabled old towns as Almaty, and Samarkand. Eligible cars will be sought for similar categories that made our 2007 event such an astounding success – Veterans, with a “models in production prior to 1922” era, a second category for Vintageants, for model-types in production from 1922 to 1942, and certain classics in production prior to 1968. As our last event was heavily over-subscribed, priority will be given to those with older cars. The Organisers reserve the right to be choosy. The car must be capable of keeping up to the time-schedules (three different schedule for the three Categories). No estate-cars, commercial vehicles, station-wagons are accepted in any Category. Rarity and "would the film-crew picture this" should be a factor in deciding what to bring, apart from ground clearance and ability to run on 70-octane fuel. The event will again by mildly sporting in accordance with the FIVA Event Code. Every day will have an element of timing. There will be a leader-board for all three Categories, producing a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and General Classification for each of the three Categories. As the new route runs further south than our recent event, in order to avoid the full heat of the deserts of the Taklamakan and Persia, our event will start on September, as the Iran coast, Turkish mountains and the mountains of northern Greece will be cooler. Potential entrants should email the Rally Office with a postal address. Information packs will be posted out in December. Preparation advice notes, and suggested spares, medical information, and other details will included. Hotels for a crew of two will be organised (crew changes are not possible – the nominated crew must be prepared to take on the entire route). Shipping will not be included in the entry-fee, but we will be recommending an official shipper to take on the job of ensuring all cars are shipped, from wherever you live, and reach the right section of the port to be unloaded together, and on time to reach the start – this will be in the information-pack. Peking to Paris 2010 Proposed schedule as at 5th December 2007
